Real time studio-quality reverb, chorus & delay magic, audio streaming playback via Bluetooth — The ultimate play-along and learning system — no cable required!

Kepma’s stunning Acoustifex® Preamp/Effects system will absolutely blow your mind.  Imagine playing your guitar in your living room, on the bus or at the beach and getting the sound of studio-quality post effects like reverb, delay and chorus without an amp, sound system or external effects. With AcoustiFex, that’s exactly what you get. Plus, you can connect your phone’s music library to your guitar and play backing tracks streamed right from your guitar - both when playing acoustically and plugged into an amp or mixer. The K-10 is a wonder in acoustic guitar tone technology, and is available only on the Kepma K3-A “AcoustiFex®” models. To see which guitars feature the K-10 pickup, preamp, FX & streaming system, go to the K3 Dreadnoughts, the K3 Grand Auditorium or the K3 Mini-36 pages.

AcoustiFex features a patented (US Patent #11,308,929 B2) design that employs a transducer coupled to the back of the guitar that uses the inertia of the original note to continue the acoustic wave’s momentum in a sympathetic vibration. The wave is transferred into the wood of the guitar using the entire body to amplify the effect. The result is a rich, natural effect sound that you can completely control.

In addition, the on-board circuitry can enhance the sound to provide thick chorus effect and even a mind-blowing acoustic delay that is speed and depth adjustable.

Stream music to your guitar? Sure, why not!

Perhaps one of the most unique features of the K-10 system is the ability for you to stream music or backing tracks from your phone via Bluetooth and play along! This is a fantastic learning tool and performance tool because all you really need is a source (your phone) and a guitar! This feature works when the guitar is not plugged into an amp or mixer, and also works when it IS plugged in.

Connection between the guitar and phone couldn’t be easier… simply power up the K-10 system by pressing the power button, then open the bluetooth settings panel on your phone. The name “Kepma K-10” will automatically be shown in the list of available devices, and you simply click it to connect. Then open up your music app and select a song to play. The volume of the playback source is determined by your device’s current volume setting — simply adjust the volume control up or down to get the perfect balance of guitar and playback music.

Take control.

Controls on the K-10 are pretty straightforward, but they do different things when playing in different modes.

Unplugged: The Tone control gives you the ability to shape the tone of the effects coming from the soundhole. When rotated counter-clockwise from top center, more midrange punch is added. When rotated clockwise, more top end and sparkle with definition enhancement. The Volume control acts as an overall master volume for the effects — No effects applied at the “zero” mark (all the way counter clockwise) to “all in” (all the way clockwise).

Plugged in: When plugged into an amp or a mixer, the tone control shapes your entire representation of acoustic sound. Left of center will deepen and add some growl and thump to the tone; right of center adds sparkle and definition. No matter what acoustic style you play, the K-10 AcoustiFex® can get you there plugged in. The Volume control is your master volume going to the board or amp.

Green, Eco-friendly Power.
Instead of burning through 9v and AA batteries at an alarming rate, unstringing your guitar to locate that elusive 9v “pouch” velcro’d in some tone-deadening space, and filling up landfills with dead batteries, Kepma’s AcoustiFex models are powered by rechargeable 18650 mega batteries — the same type of batteries designed for use in Tesla vehicles — that provide you with over 25 hours of playing time on a single charge!  Plus, the AcoustiFex K-10 comes with a generous 5ft 8in USB to USB-C charging cable to quickly and easily restore power to the system. Simply plug the cable into the charging port on the front of the unit and charge until the light turns green.

Battery Tab

No sound? On SOME AcoustiFex equipped guitars, there is a protective plastic “tab” installed in between the battery and the contact point that prevents the battery from discharging during shipment. This tab needs to be removed before the unit will charge or work when not plugged in.

Simply slack your strings enough to get your hand into the soundhole. The tab is located on the positive end of the battery, or the end that’s closest to the neck of the guitar. Gently pull to release the tab and toss it into the recycle bin.

K-10 Panel Controls:

[TONE] When playing acoustically, the TONE control can add depth and body to the sound of the effects coming out of the guitar or add a little sparkle and clarity to the top end of the effect. When plugged in and set to “straight up”, the unit is in the default EQ mode and will make your guitar sound fantastic — the sound you expect from your instrument. Rotate the knob counter-clockwise and the tone becomes “softer” with a pronouced midrange — perfect for fingerstyle playing. When turned clockwise, the bass and treble are boosted simultaneously giving a rich balanced yet pronounced response.

[INDICATOR] A multi-function LED: It turns green when the system is powered on. If you’re charging the battery, it turns yellow until charged, then green when fully charged. If it’s red, that means your battery is low and needs to be charged.

[POWER] The POWER button turns on the Effects when playing acoustically (unplugged). Push and hold the button for approximately 2 seconds and the indicator light above the power button will illuminate green, indicating that the unit is on and ready. The POWER button has no function when the guitar is plugged into an amp or mixer via a 1/4” guitar cable in the ouput jack — the unit is always “ON” when plugged in, so to conserve battery, remove the guitar cable when not in use.

[VOLUME] When playing acoustically, the VOLUME control acts as a master volume for effects coming from the guitar. Turn the knob counter clockwise to lower the amount of effects, turn it clockwise to add more effects to the acoustic sound. When plugged into a mixer or amp, the volume control is a master control for your total acoustic sound coming from the piezo & preamp.

[REVERB] Reverb selection and intensity adjustment: turn the knob counterclockwise from straight up for ROOM audition mode and amount, and clockwise from straight up for concert HALL mode.

[EFFECTS] Here’s where it gets really cool. The Effects knob lets you choose from Chorus or a Delay effect and apply the amount and intensity (or delay speed) turn the knob 50% counterclockwise for CHORUS effect, and turn 50% clockwise for DELAY effect and adjust the amount to your preference.

[USB PORT] The Type C USB port is for charging the battery with the included USB-C cable. Connect the other end of the cable to a standard USB phone or iPad charger and plug into your wall socket. Charging times will vary, but the 18650 Lithium Ion battery is designed to provide longer playing times (up to 25 hours of continuous play), so expect the charging time to be a little longer than your phone.

[Bluetooth] The AcoustiFex K-10 features Bluetooth which lets you stream audio from your device to the guitar and play it back. When unplugged, the audio comes out of the transducer inside the guitar, when plugged into an amp or mixer, it is mixed with your guitar sound and comes through the output jack. To connect, simply open the Bluetooth preferences and select “KEPMA_K10”, then you’re ready to rock!
